Overview
Balanced and varied workload, some less exciting day-to-day operations but also larger responsibilities involving handling requests and discounts valued in the millions of pounds. Was also able to work on project management with a small team for internal sales programmes and measure success in these areas.
Skills
My time management and teamwork skills have greatly improved through experience as well as working with excel and other internal programs and processes. The company offers training for many roles as well and I took part in the sales programme which taught me a lot.
Responsibilities
Yes, this surprised me. I was treated as a normal employee and was able to take on as much responsibility as I wanted. No one looks down on the interns as they fill a key and consistent role in the company. This internship provided great work experience and was one of the biggest steps forward in my personal development.
Support & Guidance
There was a lot of support available as well as programmes dedicated to helping interns develop. Due to the virtual workspace, however, there was a lack of guidance and face-to-face development within individual teams. This was available but definitely, something more difficult to get when not in an office.
Culture
Very positive and growth-oriented. The company works hard to build a good community and make people feel comfortable as well as promoting a healthy work-life balance. An example of this is wellness Friday, one Friday a month is scheduled as a half-day and is doubled in the summer to two days.
Your Impressions
I greatly enjoyed the atmosphere of putting life first and encouraging community, health, and fun. This was a great experience that will be a great building block for continuing my career and judging future opportunities.
Yes
Be yourself and focus on promoting a positive team environment and keeping a growth mindset, even in the interview process this is what comes through the most.
