The Role
Felt that I was always seen as "another student"
Although my manager was based in Manchester, she was only a phone call away, and ensured we had a weekly review call
I had set deadlines to hit each month, so it was up to me how busy I needed to be on a daily basis
I was in charge of two major reports
I think skills such as communication and work place etiquette were improved, although didnt really gain any technical skills
The Company
Lot of football and betting banter. Although this quickly disappeared when the dept boss decided to move to our seating area
Pretty good, we had pre-defined roles and new what we had to do everyday, although sometimes the work didnt take very long to complete
My dept had two placement students and we both went on two team building events, all expenses paid, which were pretty good.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
They have a grad scheme, but was pretty tough to get onto it( ie I wasnt good enough to be offered a grad job!)
The Culture
Yeh. Some of the other placement students were pretty reserved, but we had a quality group of lads who went out a fair bit (and worked from home the next day on occasions)
I was paying £210 a month to live in a really nice house with 4 others, 10 mins from the office in a town called Leamington Spa. Nights out were reasonably priced
See above
We played football twice a week, which was really well organised and a lot of fun
