Overview
We registered every day and then I took part and watched numerous workshops and seminars presented by UBS employees on the firm's culture, different divisions, employee networks, recruitment process and case studies. Also took part in networking events with employees and fellow insight participants and took part in activities to learn more about financial markets.
Skills
I've developed my existing knowledge on financial markets, and furthered my knowledge on how different areas of finance interact and how a global bank operates. I also improved my networking skills and listening skills, alongside my ability to ask insightful questions to learn more and fill gaps in my knowledge.
Business Insight
Thoroughly exciting, as all the employees were really passionate and knowledgable about their divisions. Understanding how each division was connected and fitted into the wider firm and its strategy was also very eye-opening. It also showed how diverse the range of interesting roles there were available and helped me learn where my skills could best be suited. The long opportunities to ask questions was also very helpful and insightful.
Culture
Very open and friendly, not only because that is what employees said but also from when I spoke to employees and heard their workshops and seminars. Virtually, it was harder to get a full feel or understanding of the culture, but the people that coordinated and ran the programme helped created as personal and open an experience in the programme, representing the firm and its culture well.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it, and was pleasantly surprised at how informative, engaging and personal it was for a virtual insight programme.
Yes
Be yourself and be friendly, open and have an open mind to different roles within UBS and to the industry it operates in as a whole.
