Overview
I have to answer all review requests & ensure reviews are syndicating across new and old products. I have to family map products to increase review numbers. I also work on getting our lifestyle content live onto dotcom carousel galleries. We have to brief an agency to upload the relevant assets when they're approved. I also work with the merchandising team to ensure promos are put live on site & takedown once the promo has finished. We help choose asstes & copy for the commercial team and then brief to an agency who does the publishing live onto site. Its very fast paced & promos change everyday so its vital to be organised.
Skills
I have learnt how to have effective communication with team members & how to act in a professional environment. I have learnt to have more confidence in myself and take more responsibility with projects / work. I have learnt to be more pro active and offer help where it is needed. I have learnt a great lot about merchandising, online businesses, content development, content production, agencies and business/ marketing in general. I have has to be organised, flexible and prioritise work.
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility. I lead reviews within SEUK so have to do a lot of projects & campaigns by myself & figure it out myself with my managers support. I also have the responsibility of making sure reviews syndicate accurately to and from other Samsung subsidiaries & retailers. I also have lots of responsibility with merchandising, as the briefs we create go live on site for all customers to see. We have to choose appropriate assets & make sure the information provided is correct and not misleading to any customers.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance during my placement. I learnt something new from everyone I worked with and received help whenever it was asked. They also provided me with relevant training where necessary e.g. excel to make sure I was guided & supported during my job. I also received relevant handovers from the person doing my job before me so I wasn't thrown in the deep end and knew where to start my job.
Culture
The company culture was very mixed with Korean culture and English culture. There is more of hierarchical culture with my Korean colleagues. Less so within the English culture. I felt like I could approach the director and he would listen to my opinions. I always felt listened to and valued despite being the placement & working virtually. The general atmosphere was very friendly and everyone was extremely nice and kind to me. It was a very nice atmosphere / environment to work in
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement. I gained so much value from working with some amazing people & learnt so much more about the business / marketing. I would love to come back on the graduate scheme or as a starting position. I felt the business really looked after me and its colleagues, even though we were working from home during the pandemic. Despite, working from home I thoroughly enjoyed the placement & really enjoyed the work. It didn't feel like a dread to start work, I actually really looked forward to it as everyday was different
Yes
I would say be confident in yourself but don't be afraid to ask questions as that is the only way to learn. Be pro-active & try gain as much value from the placement for yourself & future prospects. I worked in 3 different roles during my placement so don't be afraid to ask your line manager if there's another role within the business you'd like to try. be yourself - they love friendly people who can fit in a lovely team well.
