Overview
each day varies: can be report writing or practical work, involving the preparation of micro samples for hardness and microstructural checks. worked very independently and part of a team.

learnt a lot about high powered diesel engines. strengthened my admin skills, learning new software to complete jobs (e.g. shipping parts etc). learnt to use new equipment quickly and safely to complete metallurgy jobs. also developed soft skills such as communication, teamwork etc
Responsibilities
yes. to begin with i shadowed the previous placement and had to be trained on specific equipment/processes, but after this i was self-sufficient and could independently complete jobs required of me

if asked support was provided
Culture
good, all have one aim - can't comment fully though as the number of people onsite was reduced due to COVID
Your Impressions
learnt so much and can't wait to apply it at university. sadly didn't get to meet any other placement students due to COVID-19 (but this was unavoidable).
