Overview
Has been a split between studying for exams through Kaplan college and performing regular audit work. As a new joiner, you are introduced to the more simple concepts/requirements first, but this gets built on and you will be given different areas of the audit to work on.
Skills
Time management has improved as at times balancing working and studying. Soft skills such as communication have improved as you need to think about how to relay requests/information to both clients and peers. Technical skills in accounting and audit greatly improved through the training and exam process
Responsibilities
Yes, responsibilities given to me were no different to those as someone who had joined on the graduate pathway. Trusted to get on with your job individually, but seniors always happy to answer any questions you may have.
Support & Guidance
Onboarding in the first few weeks made clear all the places you can to for support - confidential helpline, office buddy, websites set up by PwC etc. On job work, all senior members of the teams I worked in were happy to answer questions to develop my understanding and help me improve.
Culture
There is an emphasis on wellbeing and inclusivity across the company. Offices and teams also make significant effort to put on socials to help with integration/relaxation.
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed the placement and very happy I made the effort to get it, despite the hard work at times. I feel as though it has given a very solid foundation to develop my career path from.
Yes
Look into what the company's values are - in particular the core principles/pillars of being a PwC professional - as these give a good idea of the knowledge you may need to convey during the interview and assessment centre.
