    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I work on a variety of projects to help create Moments That Matter. My day-to-day tasks involve admin, project work, liaising with our charity partners and teamwork. Each day is different and unique with this role and that is one of the things I enjoy most about it. Through my role I am able to work on many different projects which really help me develop professionally and gain exposure to other areas of the business.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Each day I am developing and learning something new. One of the best things I have found on this placement is the constant feedback I have received to help with my development. I have expanded my knowledge on software and programmes such as Photoshop and Microsoft Excel. As well as this I have developed my teamwork, organisational skills, project planning, leadership and so much more. Being in an on the job environment has really helped me develop further than what I learn in a university lecture.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have been given more responsibility than I could have imagined on this placement which has massively helped me with my development. I found my team were very trusting from the early days which really helped with my confidence. By the end of my placement I was working on multiple projects as well as leading on projects too. I have always felt supported by my team, so have never felt daunted by the amount of responsibility that I have been given.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was really pleasantly surprised by the amount of support I received from the entire business during my placement. My direct team would regularly make sure I was setting myself goals and achieving or learning from them. I also enrolled on the Disney Intern Programme too which really helped me. The company also have lots of communities and resources for support so I knew that if I ever felt I needed it then it was there, this was very comforting to have.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Entering my placement virtually, I assumed it would be hard to gain a sense of what the company atmosphere would be like, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I was pleasantly surprised by the sense and feeling of community that Disney have. It always felt like everyone in the company was looking out for one another. It was a very supportive and friendly environment - even if it was virtual! The BERG groups were also a really great way to mix with people from the wider business too.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement with Disney. Every day was just as exciting as the next and the opportunities presented to me were definitely once in a lifetime experiences. I will never forget this experience. Even in a virtual world I have still had the most incredible time and would recommend to anyone to do a placement with The Walt Disney Company. I have gained invaluable experience this year and will take my learnings into future roles.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to The Walt Disney Company
  • I think the most important thing when applying is to be yourself. It is really important that you naturally get along with your team as it makes the job so much easier. I think when applying reflect on your experiences so far and demonstrate why you would be good for the company. Utilise your unique skill sets in your application as it will help you stand out. Show them what working for Disney would mean to you and why you have chosen to apply for that specific role.
