    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Managing incoming orders from their arrival to delivery, ensuring they are delivered on time with high service rate. This can include manual operational amendments, alignment with commercial teams, discussions with supply/demand/launch planners and analysis of metrics such as stock quality and stock in trade to name a few. Daily reporting is also a key part of my role, highlighting any changes or important flags both internally and externally.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • The skills I have developed the most are communication, through working so closely with external contacts, innovation, bringing new ideas and projects to the team, and collaboration, liaising with all functions of the business to deliver the objective together. Skills I have gained include entrepreneurial spirit, reactivity, effective conflict management and operational skills. L'Oreal also encourage every one to take part in extra learning, from boost and SAP training to health and wellness courses.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was managing the third largest account in the division alongside two others, entirely responsible for monitoring their orders, running complex reporting, making strategic decisions and ensuring as their sole point of contact that I was reactive to all queries. I was trusted to make and action decisions based on my personal opinion and analysis of certain situations. This exceptional level of responsibility enabled me to grow professionally more than I ever thought possible.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My line manager continually encouraged and challenged me to excel and for that I am so grateful, the guidance I received opened up new opportunities and helped me to thrive in my role. There was always someone available in the wider team to help me in any way and I felt extremely valued throughout my placement. The kindness I was shown made me feel welcome from the start and not afraid to ask questions.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • L'Oreal is such a young, vibrant place to work and I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it this year. Every single person that I met welcomed me with kindness and I have made new connections I will have for life. Despite working primarily from home, the online events, classes, tutorials and socials that were organised meant I could meet so many new people and still feel like a part of the community.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I absolutely loved my placement. From the people that I was working alongside to the projects that I achieved I have thoroughly enjoyed every part of my journey. I have grown both professionally and personally more than I ever imagined, I have been challenged, pushed and encouraged to achieve such excellence. I feel very proud to have been an intern at L'Oreal.
