The Role
Learnt loads of new skills and meet some lovely people
Very valued you are treated as the same as the employee. not just someone who runs to get coffee or lunch and clean cupboards
Alot of support but it depends on the nature of your supervisor.
Quite busy but i was allowed to be flexible in building my strengths, I networked my way around the organisation in fields that interested me
A fair amount of responsibility, all the work i contributed was essential for the team i worked in and was used rather than just thrown away
in case of my background, i have a science degree but i could transfer all those skills into a new sector(IT) which surprised me the most, my degree has given me lifelong valueable skills
The Company
very friendly
I wish i had more interesting tasks, but it was very well organised in terms of my actually team i worked for and the intern viewpoint.
Not that much to be honest I had to do alot of networking and connection making myself but I did get encouragement from them
Hopefully I have my fingers crossed I landed myself another internship within the same organisation in the department of my field so I hope something comes along from there.
The Culture
It was ok. most events were at the pub and involved social drinking, i dont drink or go to pubs there wasnt that much ethnic mix but i was lucky to find interns with the same background as mine so i wasnt totally alone.
quite expensive its islington but we were told about discounts the food it very goodhere alot of choices and the halal option is here too, but we claimed lunch and travel expenses so it wasnt that bad, socialising aspect alot of pubs here for those who like to drink theres a cinema and a shopping centre.
havent got a clue i dont go clubbing
yes interns did alot of activities and the organisation itself always had events going on, there was the london marathon, interns did bake sales and give up clothes for good tmax campaign, we did a mothers day event where we made hand made mothers day cards and sent them off to tesco all proceedings went to charity.
