Overview
Working within the supply planning team to support them with daily, weekly and monthly tasks. My main responsibilities have been reporting on product availability for the brands I was responsible for, communicating risks, running reports that I share with the division and working on sustainability projects.
Skills
My public speaking skills have developed greatly after having to present multiple times across the year in team meetings. My excel skills have improved since the start of the internship as I have to use it daily and have learnt a lot from internal training. I have learnt how to use supply-chain specific programmes such as SAP. I have become more professional as well by learning how to communicate effectively within an office environment.
Responsibilities
The amount of responsibility I have had has been enough to push me out of my comfort zone but I have still been supported by my team when needed. It was rewarding to be given more responsibility across the year and challenge myself further. The projects I have been given have given me great exposure to the business as well.
Support & Guidance
I have been very well supported by my line manager and my wider team and I never hesitate to ask a question if I am unsure on something. They are very willing to help me when I have an issue and are very reactive. My line manager and team have also worked to help develop my skill set by setting me extension tasks which has also increased my confidence.
Culture
The company culture is great and there are plenty of great opportunities and events to get involved with. We have had intern-specific events such as quizzes which have been fun. I have been impressed with the charity and sustainability initiatives that L'Oréal have which I have enjoyed being involved with.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at L'Oreal. The work has been challenging but rewarding and I have learnt a lot. My team has been excellent across my placement and I have really enjoyed being in such a fast-moving, reactive and innovative company.
Yes
Be yourself! At the assessment centre, I was nervous at first but those hosting the day made me feel at ease and were very helpful which made the day less stressful. I should have worked more on my Excel skills prior to my start date. I use it daily and I think I would have progressed faster if my initial knowledge was of a higher standard.
