    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role involves doing the day-to-day order to delivery management for a customer to ensure that stock is delivered to them with as high of a service as possible, as well as on time. There is a lot of focus on new product launches and promotions, as well as a drive towards ecommerce. The role involves making sure that both internal and external stakeholders are satisfied.

  • I have learned a lot about various systems and processes (such as SAP and Excel) and how to become more proficient at these for data analysis and presenting. I have also developed certain skills such as communication and time management which have become very useful for the future.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during the placement at L'Oreal as my direct line manager switched a few months in, which meant I had to take over some of their tasks to help the new manager to transition. My manager and senior manager have also pushed and encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone and take on more senior tasks which has been amazing experience and exposure.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The team is very supportive for many queries, whether they are work-related or personal - it was always easy to drop anyone a Teams message or schedule in a catch-up call. HR have been good with guidance, as well as the training provided has helped to learn new systems and processes.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • L'Oreal has an absolutely amazing company culture. Unfortunately, most of this year has been virtual for me due to Covid, but even then people tried to organise virtual events to build up team rapport. I have heard a lot of lovely things about L'Oreal before that I hope to experience in the future- the company and people are absolutely lovely!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I did not know much about the business or my role before joining as I had a very different background at university. However, learning about the role and becoming proficient at the tasks as well as new projects has made me enjoy the placement thoroughly (albeit virtual). I have told many people that even though it was nearly all online this year, the fact that I have still enjoyed it this much bodes very well!
