The Role
It completely exceeded my expectations, loved all aspects of it and would definitely like to work there in the future.
I felt as though I was really contributing to the small team I worked within, however I dropped 2 stars as I think it would have been nice to have more recreational time with the team, perhaps a couple more team lunches or something.
My mentor was outstanding, incredibly supportive, approachable and helful.
My mentor and I worked together and met regularly to ensure I was the right amount of work, not only for the team but also to give me other opportunities such as training and participating in intern only projects.
I was given stand-alone projects that I was solely responsible for, right was the beginning of the internship.
The training and skills I developed will definitely help me in completing my degree, applying for jobs and in my next job.
The Company
The general atmosphere was great, very friendly and relaxed. My team were very busy though so at my desk it was a bit quieter.
From the interview to the end, everything was organised so well and we were given the opportunity to organise certain things for ourselves too which worked really well and meant the interns all got to know each other better.
They very much invested in me and I participated in training, as well as having a personal development strategy with my mentor.

Some interns do go on to work within the organisations and we are encouraged to apply for jobs on the internal vacancies list if they are appropriate. I think the opportunity is there for those who want it, however as I am going back to university this wasn't an area that really applied to me.
The Culture
Most interns met for lunch, at meetings, as well as some socials outside of work.
The office is in central London, so inevitably prices are quite high, however it reasonable to buy lunch within the expenses budget we were given, and local businesses are generous with deals and discounts for Cancer Research UK employees.
From personal experience I know the nightlife in the area is quite good, however the interns didn't tend to go out at night in the are that we worked as a lot of people commuted.
There were so many opportunities to volunteer at events and attend work-related events, as well as fitness classes conveniently available after work, etc.
