Overview
My role and responsibilities varied throughout the year, but more consistently I was responsible for the organization of our internal educational webinar series', our newsletter, any comms that needed creating on behalf of my team, managing my teams website, supporting the development of any new eLearnings, creating and managing internal reporting, amongst other ad-hoc projects throughout the year.
Skills
I've had the chance to refine and learn a huge blend of skills throughout my placement experience just through getting hands on with day-to-day tasks, as well as through trainings and workshops provided by SAP that I doubt I would've got from other placement experiences.
Responsibilities
Given my team was relatively newly formed and only made up of 3 people, there was a lot of projects I had the chance to not only be involved in but also lead. In my experience, I had a lot of autonomy and was able to get on with projects without feeling shadowed (but always had support there if & when I needed it).
Support & Guidance
There was a lot of people to lean on and plenty of support available at SAP during my placement from my manager, to my wider team, to mentors, and to the Placements Team.
Culture
The culture at SAP was spot on and exactly what I was looking for from my placement. It was supportive, inquisitive, fun and felt like my values were completely in line with the org. Lots of extra activities and societies to get involved in too throughout the year like Pride/Green Team/Cultures.
Your Impressions
Overall I really couldn't have asked for a better placement, even with the pandemic throwing a few spanners in the works, my internship at SAP was cracking. Everyone I interacted was brilliant, my team was 10/10, and the company culture was spot on. I'd 100% go back.
Yes
My advice would just be to take the time to learn about SAP (it's history, the direction it's going, products) and show you're invested in wanting to get the role you're applying for. If you are successful, take the time to network with as many people as possible because there is a lot of great people who'll take the time for you.
