Skills
Prioritisation has been a key skill learnt! L'Oréal is a very fast-paced business, with new opportunities appearing daily! Learning what needs prioritising and what can be pushed back on is vital to meeting deadlines and pushing the success of the brand Ability to rely on others was a big lesson learnt! You're not the expert in everything - trust the creative opinion of your designers, respect the strategic guidance of senior management.
Responsibilities
I was immensely impressed with the amount of responsibility interns get at L'Oréal! Whether that is working at the cutting edge of a media or TV campaign that is seen by millions across the country, or being directly responsible for product launches that make it on to the shelves of huge retailers!
Support & Guidance
The managerial support I received was incredible during my placement year! Whether that was support in times of personal difficulty or work hardships, as well as the trust and empowerment when asking for experience in different areas of marketing! L'Oréal highly values its mentor system, enabling any employee to get in contact with others to receive support both corporately and personally - a huge support for me on my year in the firm
Culture
L'Oréal has a people-first culture, putting wellbeing central and ensuring employees feel supported! In a virtual world, this was very hard but was still very much present! Online drinks and organised socials, regular team coffee chats, and the likes helped present this culture in a COVID world
Your Impressions
I was thrilled to be able to hold so much responsibility and work in such an exciting industry in my placement year! Being thoroughly challenged in areas of marketing I had expected to wait years to experience, and making a visible difference to the brand was incredible! L'Oréal empowers interns to make their ideas known, and bring them to the market!
