Overview
My role is a combination of design and validation work. On a day-to-day basis, my work has been heavily CAD based, creating assemblies, models and drawings. Beyond this, validation work such as modal analysis, bolted joint analysis, fit checks and many others have been assigned to me. I also have to communicate a lot, chairing and organizing meetings as well as documenting information.
Skills
I have developed my communication, CAD, organisation and validation skills.
Responsibilities
Yes, I have been responsible for designing parts that are production-intent (i.e. going to be used on engine), as well as chairing program team meetings and creating drawings for production-intent parts.
Support & Guidance
I had access to a large amount of training courses in addition to having a supportive team immediately around me, and always being able to get help if I needed it.
Culture
Have been working from home so not easy to gauge, however everyone I've worked with has been helpful and friendly - overall a great general atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement a lot, and although it was not as good of an experience as it could have been if I was able to get into office, I have learnt a lot of skills that will be extremely useful for the future.
Yes
Good to have a good mix of technical and social skills.
