Overview
Role, requires preparing system files, test instructions and supplying any parts required for testing in response to the customers requests. This also involves regular meetings to keep all stakeholders for the test projects on the same page.
Skills
Developed a wide variety of skills, such as people management, communication and the application technical engineering knowledge
Responsibilities
From the very start of the placement, responsibility was placed on me to a certain extent in running a test cell in conjunction with other colleagues. Responsibility for various tasks has increased as the months went by. We' were also provided with side projects among the regular job role to work on independently.
Support & Guidance
Since the very start colleagues working on the same project as part of a team were very helpful providing plenty of relevant information along with good explanations. They were also always open to answering any question no matter how basic.
Culture
Atmosphere is very quite as due to COVID the number of people allowed onsite is very limited. Majority of contact is done virtually resulting in a lack of social interaction. The company is always looking to hold charitable events, one was organized by the students ourselves. There are opportunities to play sport within the company although this is restricted by covid
Your Impressions
Overall, I'd say I enjoyed the placement. Although COVID taking away the interactive aspect of the role did significantly hinder my enjoyment at times. Made tasks a lot more difficult to complete tasks working from home restricted to communication over media platforms, and at times learn the technical side of the job,
Yes
Don't be afraid to ask any kind of question. The more questions you ask the more opportunities you can gain and the more you learn.
