Overview
Gather and analysis comparable evidence. Using this to report back to our clients on what our opinion of the open market value is. Once the client (normally a landlord) is happy, we then negotiate with the tenants agent in order to achieve the best lease terms possible for our client. No day is the same as I have a range of different transactions at different stated of the process, keeping my days interesting and unpredictable.
Skills
New skills I have learnt include; client relations, negotiating over the phone, the legal process and making this work in my clients favour. Existing skills I have developed; valuing and devaluing a retail premises (including the various adjustments that have influence), communication skills, excel spreadsheets and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
A significant amount of responsibility. I had countless conversations and meeting with our clients. Once I had settled into the role and knew the process, I was able to call tenants agents and negotiate with them without them knowing my status.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support and guidance. I would always run through cases and arguments with my superior before I picked up the phone to negotiate. Coupled with forensic run throughs of schedules so we knew our clients properties in and out. I received constant assistance if I was unsure of my position.
Culture
The company culture and atmosphere was very welcoming. There is a buzz and feel good factor when the office has a significant amount of people in. Unfortunately working throughout the pandemic I have not been able to experience the day to day office life as I would have liked to. But any days where there is more people in, it definitely improves the working day.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it thoroughly. I have worked very hard and will use all the experience I have gained to propel myself forward heading back to university for final year. This year has put me in a great position when looking for a graduate job.
Yes
Work as hard as you can to get a placement/graduate job at Savills. The opportunities and experience that you will gain at the company is unmatched. Hearing from my other associates' placement years, I am confident in saying that I have gained the most experience and had the most responsibility.
