    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a day to day basis I have team calls, fascinating training and creative tasks involving email and post writing. Interviews with sales reps and employees at Oracle and also creative asset creation for communications posts.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Since starting at Oracle I have had many opportunities to work on and develop skills. Some of these include my communication, written and technological skills. When I began my placement I explained how my written skills were my weakest area, and my team and have been really great at pushing me to work on this and now I feel much more confident. I have also participated in many toastmaster sessions which have been a huge help with my public speaking.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility and creative freedom during my placement. It was great because they really made us feel important and valued within the organisation and it gave us the confidence to push further and try to excel in our tasks.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Although we were given a lot of freedom we were also provided with many support systems. Our internship coordinator Maisy was a huge help throughout our time with the company. She arranged zoom calls with all the interns twice a week and development sessions. Also my manager was an incredible help and I always knew I could come to her, and the same with my team.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Even though we were online for the whole placement the company atmosphere and culture was great! Oracle is such a ginormous organisation and everyone is so kind and willing to help in any way they can. I always felt I could message anyone if I needed anything.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I absolutely loved my placement. Even though it was virtual it gave me so many opportunities to connect with people from all over the world. I also had so much fun with the creative and social tasks I was given which were better than I had even expected. I can not recommend this placement enough, it is the best one in my opinion

  • Put yourself out there for all opportunities that interest you, It may seem daunting at first but once you try it you will be so glad. And most importantly have fun with it!
