Overview
My main role is to coordinate activities such as advisory boards and medical education webcasts, as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Skills
Undertook extra training on the ABPI Code of Practice, market access and pricing, interventional and observational studies, and healthcare finance in the UK. The placement allowed me to hone my communication, presentation and project management skills.
Responsibilities
Yes. As I am not a therapy area expert like the MSL and medical advisors, I undertook a more supportive role in the therapy area-specific projects. However, I did have the chance to lead on some internal initiatives and projects that did not require deep understanding of the TA.
Support & Guidance
Great support from my manager, who was always activitely helping me maximise my experience. Had a friendly team as well whom I can ask questions to.
Culture
Company culture was friendly and placement students were encouraged to speak up, ask questions and take on projects.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed my placement and I was lucky to be in a great team, albeit virtual.
Yes
Placement students are not expected to have a great amount of therapy area knowledge, so I would advice you to be confident, show that you are a great team worker and proactive during your assessment centre/ interview.
