Overview
Day to day, work could be doing administrative tasks like setting up meetings across markets, or with external partners. You could be collating assets to send to an agency to create material for a new launch or campaign. You could also be in a webinar and learning session with a customer, or working on a toolkit for your own presentation.
Skills
Yes, my writing skills and been developed and so have my team working skills. I really learnt more business acumen skills working in the FMCG industry, and have learnt the a lot about the reach and projects of corporations in the sustainability field.
Responsibilities
Yes. You go into a live-role, so you have a place in an existing team and responsibility is both handed to you for important projects and it also can be requested by yourself. You are pushed to ask for work in projects where you might have an interest, so you get to experience lots of opportunity in the business.
Support & Guidance
You have HR Business Partners, Line Managers, Team Members and other colleagues to go to for support and guidance. The facilities offered by Unilever are also great for support should you need it. The employees are very understanding of each individual having their own needs too.
Culture
Company culture was great. It is one of the things that drew me to Unilever. Even though my placement was virtual, I still felt that sense of community and friendly atmosphere whilst working from home. I was never afraid to reach out to colleagues either - everyone is so welcoming.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement. Although I was first skeptical to be doing a split 6-month placement across two teams, it gave me the best of both worlds and really opened my eyes to future career opportunities for myself.
Yes
Jump in head first! There are so many opportunities at Unilever, and it's such a huge company so take advantage of all that is there for you to experience and learn from.
