Overview
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this internship took place virtually for one week, rather than the usual 3 weeks in person. It was filled with various talks, an opportunity to network with individuals within various practice areas and a group project.
Skills
It was great to work collaboratively with fellow interns in the group project.
Responsibilities
As the internship was virtual it consisted mainly of talks, the only actual work undertaken was the group project.
Support & Guidance
The graduate recruitment team were always there to help with any questions.
Culture
The culture at DLA Piper is genuinely like no other law firm that I have experienced. Every individual that I met was down to earth and genuine. The firm is extremely inclusive and has a strong focus on diversity because it is the right thing to do, not just to tick a box.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship. It obviously would have been better if it was in person, but the graduate recruitment team made a clear effort to ensure that we still got as similar an experience as possible.
Yes
Have a strong CV and make sure that you really know what the firm is about, particularly for the interview in the assessment centre.
