Overview
The two week vacation scheme revolved around networking, lectures from department members and undertaking actual work for the department I was sitting in. Time spent on these activities was split roughly 33% on each. The work was stimulating, ranging from administrative tasks to bundling, sector reports and legal memorandums. We also had two socials, which were fun.
Skills
Yes, I developed my communication, time management and networking skills. I also learnt how to undertake legal research and write a sector report from a legal perspective. I think I improved as a candidate through the scheme and the expansion of these skills.
Business Insight
It was fascinating to learn more about day to day life in a law firm and what the work involves. I particularly enjoyed speaking to Partners at the firm about the job from their perspective and the opportunities a career in law can afford you.
Culture
The culture and atmosphere were fantastic. Everyone I met, from Grad Rec to trainees to Partners, was welcoming and enthusiastic, and no one hesitated to offer me their time and advice. I couldn’t have left with a better impression of the firm.
Your Impressions
I massively enjoyed the vacation scheme. While it was challenging, the people at the firm made sure that it was fun, engaging and worthwhile at the same time.
Yes
