    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The role is very varied day to day but the core responsibilities involve: - Monitoring and responding to HR queries from employees - Pulling data reports of employee information - Note taking during disciplinary meetings - Creating and sending HR communications to employees - Supporting in a variety of HR projects e.g. new benefits, employer awards, recruitment - Supporting the team where needed

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • On a personal level there has been a real focus throughout the year on my personal development with quarterly meetings with my manager focused on this and the encouragement from SAP to set goals. I've built a lot of self awareness on my capabilities and what complimentary skills I bring to projects and been able to focus on the projects I'm most interested in.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was so surprised at the amount of responsibility given to me as an intern throughout my placement. You're continuously pushed our of your comfort zone and there's so many different opportunities to enhance your skills and learn new things. However, you are completely supported by your team and other employees, they're always very willing to help or put you in the right direction of who can.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I felt I was completely supported by my manager and team. I was allocated a buddy within SAP who was there to support me with anything, whether this was professionally or personally. Also a lot of guidance and training from the placement team when joining and throughout the year with workshops and development session to ensure your making the most out of your year.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is very diverse and inclusive. There's a collaborative and open culture in which you can put your ideas out freely and have these be respected and understood. Even in a virtual environment the culture has still been able to remain positive and connected.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Overall, I really enjoyed my 13 month placement with SAP. I was able to meet so many great people and still get involved in so many amazing initiatives and projects. Even during virtual working, I've always felt very supported. This year has given me such invaluable experience to be able to apply for future jobs and have an understanding of what career path I want to go down once I graduate.

  • Make sure to research the organisation and its culture to ensure it aligns with your own values, this passion needs to come across in your application. Reach out to people within SAP, those who are in your role or otherwise to get an internal view of what SAP is like and answer and questions you may have- people are always willing to help!
