    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Daily tasks were quite varied. Initial stages of the internship entailed induction style events, networking and social events, and presentations about the firm. Towards the middle of the week, we were assigned our assessed tasks, and a great deal of time was spent on preparing for the same. However, throughout the scheme, we were afforded office-specific networking sessions as well as practice-based and non-legal insights into various aspects of DLA Piper's global business.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • By partaking in the virtual internship, I developed a host of skills. Firstly, I was able to polish up my networking and social skills, especially considering the virtual environment that the scheme took place in. Secondly, I was also able to develop my commercial awareness through the various practice area and office specific insight sessions that the firm help. In particular, the sessions with the managing partners of each of the offices were very insightful.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • There was significant business insight provided throughout the internship. In particular, the firm held presentations and direct meetings with the graduate development manager to enlighten us further about its international graduate program. The firm sought to provide in-depth insight into the same, through a presentation and a Q&A session, and explained every facet of the prospects of joining the firm beyond the internship. In a nutshell, the firm strived to provide long-term career insights.

  • The culture was simply amazing! This was evident from day 1, when the managing partner met with the entire internship cohort. Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I very thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the level of insight we were given into the firm. Throughout the 5 days, there was absolutely no time when I felt that I wasn't learning more about the firm. Furthermore, it was not insight that you could simply read on the internet, it was very specific and personal information that was given out, which could only have been experienced by having interacted with the firm.
