Overview
Throughout the day, I am busy keeping on top of my emails and attending any meetings I have, whether that be with stakeholders for projects or with the whole of UK IT. Between my meetings, I am usually busy working on projects in my team or completing individual tasks and planning for any upcoming meetings.
Skills
My organisational skills have developed significantly as I have to make sure that I am always on top of any new tasks that come in and allocate time to complete them in line with any meetings I have. My communication skills have also improved, as I have to ask very specific questions to stakeholders to make sure I am getting the exact requirements for a project.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was treated like actual employee rather than a student. I was involved in the UK IT function meetings which made me feel like I belonged there and I was given very impactful projects throughout the year. It was nice to feel trusted to do the work properly.
Support & Guidance
There were always people offering to help with any questions I had throughout the whole year, not just at the beginning. I had bi-weekly meetings with my line manager to let him know what I was getting up to and how I was getting on. Having a buddy at the start also made it easy to reach out to someone if I had any questions.
Culture
It was a very relaxed culture, but at the same time, work was always a priority and it was always taken very seriously. Our team would have fun events quite frequently which was a nice break from work. Our UK team also took reward and recognition seriously which was very imprortant.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement and it was one of the best decisions I made whilst at university. It has equipped me with skills that I will carry over into university and later life. I would definitely consider working for PepsiCo in the future.
Yes
Be yourself throughout the whole application process because if you act differently once you start, compared to the application process, it will be visible. If you're kind, driven and a people person, you will fit right in at PepsiCo. Once you start, and even during the application process, connect with employees on LinkedIn and message them if you have any questions. The people at PepsiCo really make the job.
