Overview
We had the opportunity to learn a great deal of information through specific training days in the investment banking sector as a whole, as well as into the global markets division. We also visited various desks in the division to gain greater insight, and also received a group assignment.
Skills
I definitely improved my technical knowledge on concepts in the industry. It also improved my networking skills and also my time management skills with juggling our daily tasks. The group project definitely matured my presentation skills, teamwork skills and research skills.
Business Insight
It was really eye-opening learning that within just one division there are so many different roles that altogether work to help the bank keep running. It was emphasised that there really is a role for every person.
Culture
You could feel immediately that it was an extremely hard-working company culture, where everyone is prepared to go above and beyond to achieve excellence and to be the best. Everyone was prepared to help you and talk to you, to help you grow and improve.
Your Impressions
It’s an experience that I really enjoyed and would really recommend to anybody that wants an experience into a top bank.
Yes
Make sure you’re asking lots of questions and also come prepared to every single session. Be prepared to work hard, and put in the effort, and don’t be scared to just say if you don’t know something. Also, do not view your other spring interns as your competitors for getting converted, see them as your teammates and just focus on being the best version of yourself to get converted.
