Overview
My role assists managing Marketing Spend in ACD. This is done through my responsibilities of managing Purchase Orders, approving and managing Non-Chargeable Orders. Ensuring that blocked invoices are resolved as soon as possible so vendors can be paid promptly. My roles also include updating Marketing spend trackers so it reflects true and actual spend, as well as updating foreign exchange rates monthly.
Skills
I have learnt many new skills in my time with L'Oreal. Including gaining a valuable insight and understanding to the working of a Profit and Loss Sheet, which is valuable in all areas of finance. As well as important skills on important platforms such as excel, but also on more finance focused platforms such as SAP and Compass.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was surprised at the importance of my responsibilities that I was given right from the start of my placement. My role also enables me to have regular contact with many brand heads throughout the division, thus enabling me to improve my communication and networking skills with higher level management. Also, my job involves running reports which are used by all in the division, thus making it a highly important task.
Support & Guidance
I was given fantastic support during my placement, both from line manager, the division FD and the rest of my finance team. Both division HR and the HR intern have been a super useful source of information. Also the great network of interns has been really helpful for getting data or learning useful tips and tricks for completing tasks.
Culture
The company culture is great with lots of really fun and engaging initiatives being implemented to keep all of us stimulated and entertained, especially when working from home during this difficult year. Despite difficult circumstances, the atmosphere in the company has remained very high and positive and it is very nice to come into the office when able to do so.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement partly because of the people I have worked with in a personal and professional capacity. I have also really enjoyed the responsibility of jointly looking after the advertising and promotion part of the Profit and Loss Sheet.
