The Role
The atmosphere within Cancer Research UK was fun and there were lots of different activities for me to get involved in such as testing brand new products and helping to fundraise in lots of different ways. There is a lot of emphasis put on the interns getting to know eachother and social activities amoung the interns are encouraged greatly.
When I had completed a task for them they made sure they thanked me and mentioned my name when using this work.
Although my supervisor was very busy I felt i could approach them if I need more guidance or support. Everyone else in the team was also very supportive and helpful.
I was mostly busy with different tasks for different people. There were occasions where tasks overan and I felt that I had too much or where I had completed these tasks and didn't have much to do but these occasions were rare.
I was given a good balance of responsibility given my previous experience and felt like the work I did do was valued.
My internship gave me a great insight into innovation and helped me devleop skills that will help me beyond my degree studies. I has given me confidence to work with many different people in a large organisation.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere within my team and everyone got on very well.
I really liked the fact that the interns had 2 inductions days, in between which was the first day in the office. This gave us the chance to get to know eachother better and ask any questions that we had. There was a welcome talk from many different areas of the organisation which meant I had a better understanding of how they all worked together and who to go to if I was interested in a particular area outside of the team I was based in.

Company Parties/Events
I know of other interns that have applied and been offered permanent positions within the organisation and the volunteering placement executive always makes sure the interns are aware of these positions very quickly.
The Culture
There were several social activities that the interns could attend, we were also invited to volunteer at a lot of fun events.
There are many activities that you can get involved in outside of work as Cancer Research UK has a lot of fundraising events that require volunteers. These varied greatly during my time there including the marathons, dog walking events and more specific fundraising events within certain teams.
