Skills
Yes
Responsibilities
Yes - a lot more than any of my friends doing placement years
Support & Guidance
This varied depending on whom it was I needed support from. You are given a mentor when you start at Aldi - they were my rock for general support and guidance.
Culture
I'd describe the culture as traditional and very corporate. My placement was massively affected by the pandemic so the atmosphere is hard to grasp when working from home but generally it is positive. You will be expected to work to a high standard and at times.
Your Impressions
Overall I enjoyed my placement year. It has been challenging but also rewarding. The jobs that I have done have varied massively to my expectations when starting the company, and I do wish that I had been consistently given more meaningful work as supposed to coordinating/ ad-hoc tasks. Nevertheless, my soft skills and knowledge of the company have grown massively.
Yes
Make a list of what you want to get out of your time at Aldi to review and ensure you're getting what you want out of the experience. You will be the driver behind your placement.
