Overview
Learning about the importance of technology to the development of businesses, the modelling and data science behind making businesses grow, and gained such a valuable insight into tech roles for science undergraduates at the firm. Insight into how KPMG was tackling gender diversity and increasing the participation of women in tech through their 'IT's Her Future' programme. Hearing about all the opportunities that KPMG offers, especially for women, strengthen my determination for pursuing my career path and motivated me to overcome every obstacle.
Skills
This insightful opportunity taught me a lot about a career in technology and the importance of technology in businesses, such as digital consulting and data analytics. I also have the opportunity to know discover many interesting opportunities KPMG has to offer to women in technology. Using my findings and skills sessions, I delivered a presentation to the partners at KPMG on how technology can be used to modernise and grow businesses, which strengthen my public speaking skills.
Business Insight
It was an amazing understanding of how KPMG works in terms of tech and engineering roles. Getting familiarised with the process which undergraduates can step through to build their career path including insights, summer vacation scheme, graduate scheme and different roles that I may choose to pursue in the future career, was super helpful. After the insight, I had a better understanding not only of how KPMG operates but also how I would effectively contribute to KPMG in future.
Culture
The people I met from KPMG were passionate and determined. One might say, real hard-working experts. They celebrate what makes their people unique, and they want their people to support each other, inspire each other and learn from each other. That is exactly the atmosphere where I see myself working in the future, where I can feel comfortable and accepted. During the insight, there was a welcoming atmosphere and clearly, the insight demonstrated their open and inclusive culture, where everyone has a chance to be their best.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight very much, as it included meeting other young girls with the same interests in tech and engineering as I. With them, I exchanged my thoughts and experiences and shared the same thirst for knowledge and improvement. We also had a chance to work on a team exercise and give a presentation to a business leader from KPMG, which boost our skills. After the insight, I stayed in touch with the girls I met and already looking forward to calling some of them, my colleagues.
Yes
I would say to make most of the experience, it is a valuable insight that can offer a great career fast track. Also, I would suggest using every opportunity for networking and connecting with other applicants. Not only would one gain practical knowledge for their careers, but also technical knowledge for future work. So, take every second of it to learn, to improve, and to ask as many questions as you need. Could not recommend more to other young girls.
