Overview
Shadowing various employees, drafting emails, researching new legislations
Skills
Yes, 100%! My confidence has improved massively, albeit virtually the opportunity to speak to so many individuals of various grades and service lines was a great experience. I have understood more about the google system ie. calendars, meets, docs. Drafting emails and researching taught me how to use professional structuring and language. I have also learnt a lot about my specific service line and terminology used!
Responsibilities
I think I, personally, was given the perfect amount of responsibility. It was enough so that I could learn, but not so much that everyone relied on your work and there would be drastic outcomes if you were wrong.
Support & Guidance
Unfortunately my buddy was unavailable for the first week due to study leave but even so she reached out to me several times and pointed me in the direction of other associates. Everyone I met was so lovely and willing to help and answer any questions I had.
Culture
I don't think it is possible to fault the culture of PwC. There is so much respect for wellbeing, diversity and the environment - all very important to me. I'm not sure if I had a really good team or if everyone is like this, but my team were so welcoming and friendly that I felt like I could approach anyone.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement. I'm so upset that it was cut short due to the Covid-19 situation and that it was also virtual, however, because it was virtual I had the opportunity to meet so many people from across the country and network with different departments.
Yes
It's very cliche, but honestly just by yourself. Everyone is so friendly that they also want to hire friendly people! I'm really glad I made the most of my time by reaching out to so many people before and during the internship - I would really recommend talking to someone before the AC. One more thing, it shows whether you are genuinely curious and excited so if you are then let it come across!!
