Overview
My role as a Business Development Intern composed of responsibilities such as discovering barriers to market entry, gathering and analysing data to measure the effects of different solutions and deciding on potential forward strategies and actions. As it is a client facing role, you spend most of your time interacting with current/prospective clients.
Skills
I broadened my knowledge in IT as well as some coding languages. In addition, I massively improved my communication skills, interpersonal skills, presentation and public speaking as well as time and resource management.
Responsibilities
Yes, I joined the team in full force since day one and with time, I started leading my own projects and opportunities as I gained more experience and knowledge in the area.
Support & Guidance
Enough to get work done. Some times unless you look for guidance or support you will not get it. It is important to reach out and ask questions.
Culture
It was very pleasant, however, I did not really experience the real atmosphere of the company as I spent my placement year working from home. As much as I managed to get to know colleagues and form some kind of relationship, this would have definitely been different if we worked together 1:1 on a daily basis.
Your Impressions
I definitely enjoyed it and will be looking forward to potentially coming back as a graduate
Yes
Do your research for the company and be yourself to stand the greatest chance of actually getting the position. Recruitment managers want to see who you really are rather than who you claim to be. Keep your chill and read as much as you can about what the company is working on/investing or promoting.
