Overview
The role in audit involved joining an audit team. Depending on the stage of the audit responsibilities varied, but in general this involved checking documents to ensure they were accurate and appropriate.
Skills
Learnt new skills such as the accounting software, while my skills in networking, intaking large quantities of information, and time management were developed significantly
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given an appropriate level of responsibility. I was challenged with tasks that were significant and conducted independently, however I was aware that I could refer to senior colleagues for advice, and that this work would be reviewed after completion.
Support & Guidance
High level of support and guidance, an informal buddy was assigned to check up on me, while a formal coach was assigned to support and assist development. Additionally, separation into different catch-up teams helped to develop intern connections despite the virtual nature of the internship.
Culture
Very friendly and open culture, while still professional. I felt comfortable to talk in high-level meetings I joined.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the internship significantly. Despite the internship having to take place online due to Covid-19, it was still ensured that the workload was sufficient but not overbearing, and support was still easy to access. Online events provided by PwC helped to break the online monotony and simulate real-life social events.
Yes
Apply early, and make sure to reference technology investment, authenticity and inclusivity in applications.
