Responsibilities
Due to confidentiality not much real responsibility can be given in terms of working on deals, but there are lots of opportunities to get involved in other things. The main job is to learn.
Support & Guidance
From the careers team, support was good. Other staff members and graduates were great at supporting the interns and reaching out. You are given a graduate buddy to support you which is very helpful. The only improvement is my line managers communication isn't that good and the first few days I had to find work for myself instead of the manager providing more structure.
Culture
NatWest has a really good culture, lots of activities to do and all of the staff are happy to talk to the interns. There is a culture within Structure Finance of long hours.
Your Impressions
It is a very good internship, better than some of the other banks. The work is very interesting and there are lots of opportunities to learn
Yes
Be prepared for long ours within structured finance, but just throw yourself in, work hard, network and you will thrive.
