Overview
The role varies day-to-day, with some days spent in a placement team and others with the early careers team, developing skills and learning about the bank. In the placement team there are opportunities to add value and contribute to ongoing work at the bank.
Skills
Confidence and communication are two skills I have developed since being at the bank. These are used on a daily basis such as through team meetings and speaking out in front of audiences, which is a great skill to carry on throughout my career. I have also learnt to be more of a critical thinker by questioning processes and challenging people's views.
Responsibilities
There are opportunities for responsibility within the teams you work in during the 8 weeks and this is up to the individual to take on more or less. The responsibility was not too much but enough to feel like you are making a difference in the team.
Support & Guidance
There is a significant amount of support offered, through the early careers team or even through the line manager you work with twice a week. These people help with any problems or queries and always encourage questions which makes you feel welcomed and supported.
Culture
Company culture is very inclusive and there always seems to be opportunities for interactions with numerous team members. I felt very welcomed when joining the bank and like I had the support of everyone around me. The employee led networks also are very inclusive and good for all people from the bank.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed the internship and I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of applying. The people are all welcoming and lovely and you feel like a valued member of the team when working there. The structure is also very well laid out so there's something to keep you busy.
Yes
Be confident and be yourself. Research the company first but ultimately try to put forward the best version of yourself and enjoy it.
