Overview
There were a number of sessions run by graduate recruitment, such as information on pro bono work and a group task. We also sat in 2 different departments, which involved completing work and networking with people within the departments.
Skills
I developed a number skills. For example, I developed my time management skills due to balancing different tasks set. I also developed my confident and ability to take initiative as I had the ability to contact people within the firm and organise meetings. I also developed my attention to detail due to checking work to ensure there were no mistakes.
Business Insight
We sat in 2 seats, which allowed us to get a good insight into different departments, but we also had the opportunity to network with people in other departments. We also had a number of sessions about different aspects of the firm including CSR.
Culture
Every person I spoke to was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Although the scheme was virtual, I had the opportunity to speak to a number of people, as well as attend socials and team meetings.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the scheme very much- in particular, I enjoyed networking with lawyers and learning about the different roles people have. I also enjoyed the socials, which provided a great opportunity to get to know the other vac schemers, as well as trainees.
Yes
I would recommend attending events with the firm, e.g. webinars, to learn more about the firm's values and trainee experiences. I would also suggest looking at all experience you have- a part time job working as a tutor can help you develop a number of skills.
