    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The beginning of the internship involved completing a 3 day audit training session. During the remainder of the internship I worked in a team on a real client, and every morning I would have a meeting and I would be assigned tasks by the senior associate on my team. Upon completion of the tasks given I would review the work with someone on the team and receive valuable feedback.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I learnt a lot about the auditing process at pwc and the programmes that are used. The internship helped me develop my technical skills through the use of their softwares and being guided by the staff on my team. I networked with a lot of senior members within the firm and this was really valuable as I learnt from their experiences and got an understanding of the different qualifications available for me.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given the responsibility of picking samples and doing some controls testing. My in charge allowed me to attend walkthrough meetings with the client and allowed me to ask them questions about some of the samples. After these meetings, I was told on 2 occasions to draft follow up emails which were reviewed by the senior associate and I was given the responsibility of sending the email.
