Overview
Month end tasks, such as accruals, to support preparation of monthly accounts. Preparation and presentation of monthly operating statements . Supporting the delivery of annual budget, as well as year end audit requirements. Support financial analyst in ensuring all prices are correct in the system and all shipments are costed timely and accurately.
Skills
I have developed both analytical and technical skills on systems such as Sage and AS400 as well as improving my excel skills. The role has also given me a great opportunity to work on my presentations and professional identity by presenting to upper and executive levels of management.
Responsibilities
I was given a large amount of responsibility throughout the year but there was always constant support from my team and other members of the business.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support from my team as well as the wider business. A mentor was also assigned to me for a PDCA project that took up 6 months of the placement.
Culture
Hard to really rate this due to being at home for Covid lockdowns. What i got to experience was good but could not be compared to other years.
Your Impressions
It was a good year to the extent that it could be due to restrictions. The team and environment that I experienced was great but due to limited opportunities to socialise and experience the culture it was very different to how I imagined. Team was amazing. Would not come back for the graduate scheme as there is minimal opportunities for finance.
Yes
Be yourself in interviews and applications, they want to know you, not who you pretend to be :)
