Overview
Training and development sessions, fundraising team exercise, business project, placement. Most of your time is spent learning about the bank and it's purpose and a very brief introduction to your teams work. Don't expect to be integrated into a team as you only spend 2 days a week doing this. very much a taster to see if you will like this after uni.
Skills
Enhanced my current skillset, and vastly expanded my soft skills. Anyone going into natwest should be aware that soft skills are the important thing here, it will get you much further than any technical skills as you will be taught all of these anyway
Responsibilities
Very little to none. You have no real impact (although, this will depend on the placement team). However, an internship is not about the responsibility but about gaining experience and understanding. If you do well on this you can get a graduate job and from speaking to graduates this is when you get a lot of responsibility. If you want this then focus on experience and understanding
Support & Guidance
You have to ask for it in many cases. People will presume that you are somehow qualified for the role and so you need to make sure you say that you need guidance or feedback. However, when you ask for it everyone is always happy to help in any way that that they can
Culture
Very progressive. Natwest is really focused on being a purpose led bank (look this up if you're going for an interview). Lovely people and very welcoming, you can reach out to people at any level and they're always happy to help
Your Impressions
I'm sure most people would like it, but I don't really. Think it's because I find my placement a bit dry (it just happens to be the one thing I didn't want to do after uni), they should really ask where you would like to be put.
Yes
Be aware of the banks purpose and your soft skills. These will get you a job not your ability to actually do the job (although, this does matter too)
