Overview
Liaising with my immediate team and those further out. Completing tasks that are very structured and clear. Alongside placement tasks, all interns took part in a climate related business project, and a fundraising project. Very well structured timetable allowed for effective working.
Skills
NatWest provide a great platform to develop new skills and network. I have used the extensive amount of people willing to talk, and the wonderful educational platforms to develop an array of skills, and fast-track my career development.
Responsibilities
I was given work, but trusted to go about it the way I felt necessary. Support was just a call away, but we were told clearly that we can ask for help whenever we need, but also were pushed to explore our own inquisition as much as possible to boost personal development. Grad and line support was available throughout.
Support & Guidance
Line managers and buddies were assigned before the internship, and this has been incredible. I have been given the support available to let me ask questions and explore my interests. They also supported me by allowing me paths to more efficiently network with different teams thanks to their pre-existing relationships.
Culture
The atmosphere is somewhere of acceptance, and somewhere where you should never feel scared to ask a question. People love to spread knowledge, and that fuels an atmosphere in which I was really able to learn.
Your Impressions
Very much so. The culture has been very accommodating and allowed me to achieve the development goals I set before joining. This interest in self development has been complemented by the culture of NatWest, and I have been encouraged to make the most out of, and maximise my impact during my internship.
Yes
Take some time to recognise what skills you could do with improving, and be honest and open about them with your support network. They will send you in the right direction for learning, and will also open up channels for you to expand your knowledge.
