Overview
To assist the store manager in achieving the highest possible sales in their store, whilst ensuring an efficient and co operative working environment, excellent customer service, consistent price change, strong due diligence and accurate accounts.
Skills
Yes. This placement provides a huge amount of exposure early on, I have improved in the following areas; Time keeping, Organisation, Presenting, Commercial Awareness, Working as a team, Working independently.
Responsibilities
Yes. This role comes with a lot of responsibility very early on. For example; taking full responsibility for managing shifts within a month of entering store, independently working on projects, assisting an Area Manager and managing multiple stores.
Support & Guidance
During the year it was expected that every task shown to myself had to only be shown once. After this, it was expected that I should be able to complete the task without any further guidance.
Culture
The company culture is very much focused around achieving company targets. The expectations within the company are very high and the feedback that you have to receive and provide is very direct. There is very little additional time that can be spent providing additional training, this is due to how busy management are.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed the placement year, this time has allowed me to improve skills that have needed development whilst also highlighting my individual strengths. I have particularly enjoyed the 6 months of project work as I have been able to take full responsibility to deliver solutions.
Yes
When applying to Aldi, understand that this role has a lot of diversity throughout the year. It is extremely physical during the initial 6 months during the store time phase. It is really important to understand to the micro level details of all new tasks shown whilst completing the placement.
