    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I worked on real project management, met high level staff out of BP organisation. Directly worked and communicated with contractors and vendors. Was given very interesting objectives over the year.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • I was valuable support especially for technical/engineering matter. Very often technical knowledge support was requested from me.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • Work with my line manager on weekly bases. Had excellent mentor that supported me all the time. Always got support from rest of my team -about 6 people all together when requested help.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • The work was more relaxed at the beginning before my specific objectives were sorted and my role clearly defined. After that I was very busy with interesting tasks.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • I appreciate the level of responsibility that was given to me. Communicated with vendors on my own, could express and follow my own ideas in product development. Went to support installation of monitoring devices directly on site for a week.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • The skills I gained will be more valuable in my future career than my degree studies. It was a more project management oriented placement whereas my studies are more focused on new manufacturing technologies.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • Absolutely great, despite the team being split with 3 people working from Sunbury and 3 from Naperville

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • My role wasn't clearly defined at the beginning of the internship but it was cleared up quickly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • I had various opportunities to apply for personal training events. However, the training is more up to your drive and since I was very busy with my work, I rather took opportunities to visit the sites and real work environment than going for courses that I can do at University.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • I was more in contact with my colleagues than with peers and interns since I started a bit later than rest of interns. I was very nicely taken into our team which was very good. Company does not organise too many social events for interns during the year but everyone is free to do so and we had couple dinners together.

    • I was living in central London which means very good social life compensates the high living costs

    • Since living in central London the night life is of your choice.

    • Dozens (sport clubs, special activities, musical/theatre performances...)
