    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The internship involved getting to know more about the service line and talking to people who work there, from graduates to partners. Throughout the internship there was also a case study replicating real client work which we carried out in a team of 5 to then present back at the end as a final presentation.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • A lot of the main new skills I have learnt are more soft and communication skills. There wasn't much technical knowledge or information taught. I learnt a lot more in the way of getting to build up a working relationship with new people who I have only ever met virtually.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • We were given a fair amount of responsibility throughout the two weeks in terms of working within out team, organising who does what and any additional meetings with recent graduates to assist the case study. We were not given real ongoing client work to get involved with but this sounds like it was to do with the virtual element and that during physical internships this is the case.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • We received a large amount of opportunities for support and guidance but in the way that we had to be inquisitive to get the answers but that the mentors would always be happy to assist when we got stuck. We each had a recent graduate assigned that we could talk to in a non professional way just to ask for any support or advice.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The general company culture was actually amazing, I think every person that I was on calls with that worked at EY seemed genuinely passionate about the company and the people. The company culture has proven to be very supporting and embracing of everyone and has demonstrated this rather than just saying that they are inclusive.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the internship. There were times that seemed quite daunting at first but turned out to be really nice, such as being put in a group to work on a team project. I also enjoyed hearing so many things from different people and it felt like the time went really quickly. There were lots of fun initiatives that took place throughout the two weeks as well.

  • 7. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to EY
  • I would advice people to definitely apply and throughout all of the interviews to just try and be as genuine and sociable as you can because by the time you are at the final interviews they have tested you for all of the technical knowledge they need you to have. It seems like they are just looking for if they would like to work with you.
