    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I am an Assurance Summer Intern and I had the chance to participate in a series of talks and Q&A to learn more about EY and my role (Assurance). I was also assigned a group with four other interns from the same service line to work on a case study and we presented our findings to our mentor.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I was amazed by the amount of knowledge that I was able to gain despite my internship being only two weeks. I gained most of my knowledge from the case study sessions where I worked with my group mates to discuss our ideas based on the tasks given to us. I was able to develop communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills. Despite it being virtual, everything went so smoothly.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I, together with my groupmates, was given a case study task to complete. Since it was an assessed part of our virtual internship, we took this opportunity to learn as much as possible and come up with a variety of ideas to the best of our abilities. I would say we were given a huge amount of responsibility to complete our case study as a group.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a huge amount of support and guidance throughout my two-week virtual internship. Each group was assigned a mentor and a buddy from the same service line and we could ask them any questions to clarify our doubts and to learn more about the role. The recruitment team was extremely friendly as well. I sincerely appreciate their support and guidance.

  • EY is a great company. If you are the person who values diversity and inclusiveness, EY is the right company for you. If you value work-life balance over your income, EY is the right company for you. You should seek to find out if your personality matches the values of EY. Also, you can research more about the role you want to apply for, and practise some strengths-based interview questions.
