    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • This virtual internship provided a wealth of information on EY including sessions that talked about the company and its culture, learning about and developing new skills e.g. resilience, panel q & a's with employees within the organisation, a group case study project, key note speeches and other fun activities as well!

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I had the opportunity to work as part of a group for a case study which was extremely beneficial in developing team-work, communication skills and meeting new people. The case study also involved delivering a presentation so I was able to develop this skill too. There were also many learning sessions on a range of useful topics e.g. presentations, business etiquette and building your personal brand.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • The case study element was something that I was given responsibility for i.e. working in a group to create and deliver a presentation. Other than this the main responsibility was to attend all sessions/activities and engage with them e.g. asks lots of questions in order to get the most out of the two weeks.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Plenty of support was offered, the student recruitment team were excellent at conducting the sessions and there was lots of support from mentors regarding the case study element as well as buddy sessions from a member of staff and opportunities to hear more about EY from a range of employees and find out about their experiences. Everyone at EY was friendly and welcoming and willing to provide as much information and guidance as possible.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Everyone I spoke to and heard from were really welcoming and friendly. There was a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the two weeks. The culture at EY is very inclusive and this was clearly demonstrated. As the internship was conducted virtually, there weren't social events as such but employees I spoke to talked about the sports clubs and activities they would ordinarily be involved in.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship as I learned a great deal about EY and its diverse and inclusive culture. The group case study was enjoyable as it gave an opportunity to meet new people. All the people on the programme were friendly and I felt the structure of the two weeks was very effective to enable me to explore and learn more about the company. In addition, I would also recommend exploring the culture of the organisation e.g. diversity and inclusion as well as sustainability to gain a better understanding of how EY operates.
