Overview
Everyday we got given talks about the company and the specific roles we applied to. We got to have Q&A sessions with partners and current employees there. We also got given a case study to work on in groups, meaning we could express our teamwork skills, eventually presenting it to our mentors at the end, who also gave us guidance along the way.
Skills
I have developed a plethora of skills, from not only learning what skills are needed to be successful in the job, to also being able to be comfortable with new people and getting on with a task given. The key skills I believe to complete tasks in an efficient manner are communication, adaptability and teamwork.
Responsibilities
The responsibility we were given goes as far as working together in a group, delegating tasks among ourselves and relying on each other to complete it. This responsibility was important because we had a final presentation to do, and time management here to get it all done in time was key to success.
Support & Guidance
The guidance and advice we got from our mentors were extremely helpful. We had meetings quite often to ask questions and get our work checked to make sure we were along the right lines. As they were more experienced, they gave expertise support and allowed us to make our presentation the best it could be.
Culture
There are no words to describe how welcoming the culture at EY is. Not a single worker came across as rude, everyone was willing to help, came across with such positive energy and gave brilliant support. It seemed like they were more than just employees, and actually made a friendship bond which I believe is very important in the workplace.
Your Impressions
Despite being virtual, I think the internship was extremely engaging and enjoyable because there were activities to interact in and also exciting speakers to learn a lot from too. I don't think that EY could have set this internship programme any better for the current situation given to us right now.
Yes
Most importantly is be yourself, as far as I am aware, it is important that there is a variety of skills and competencies that will be applicable for the job. Further, it is good that the team have workers that compliment each other in terms of skills, therefore my advice would be to be yourself and prepare competency questions.
