Overview
(All virtual) Fundraising challenge for charity, business innovation challenge with other interns, talks from business speakers, development sessions and social sessions. Two days per week on a placement within a team in the bank, often as the only intern in the team, sitting in on team meetings, being given a range of tasks to complete.
Skills
I have learnt a vast range of new skills, and developed existing skills such as time management, business etiquette, confidence, creativity, teamwork, and improved my excel skills.
Responsibilities
As the only intern in my placement team I felt I was able to be given responsibility whilst feeling supported by my manager.
Support & Guidance
I feel that interns are really valued, and everyone I have come into contact with during my internship has been more than willing to offer their support and guidance, answer my questions, and schedule time with me to explain things both related to my placement and outside of it in other areas I may be interested in. Having both my manager and a graduate buddy means that there are multiple people I can turn to to ask questions.
Culture
Whilst my internship was a virtual experience I got a very positive impression of the company culture and general atmosphere. Time was scheduled for our wellbeing and everyone was very friendly and supportive.
Your Impressions
Considering my internship was a virtual experience I have enjoyed it. The friendliness of the teams I have worked in has meant that potentially boring tasks were more enjoyable, and scheduled time for social activities helped this too. There is no choice as to which placement team you will be allocated to, and I believe this would make the internship more enjoyable by ensuring you are in an area you find interesting.
Yes
Be prepared to work hard, and have the confidence to make the most of your opportunity by asking questions and getting to know the other employees who are all very willing to help you.
