Overview
I spend two days of the week with the Credit risk team, where I attend meetings, talk to my manager and attend shadowing sessions. I have to complete a business project and a Corporate Social Responsibility project.I meet with my respective team members numerous times throughout the week. I also attend development sessions and business speaker sessions to gain skills and enlarge my knowledge of the company and the industry.
Skills
I have gained knowledge of the industry, the bank and my function thanks to numerous business speaker talks as well as calls with more senior employees. I have improved my relationship building skills, through courses and team projects. I have developed my problem solving skills by working on different projects I have become better at organization, being busy and having a variety of tasks has forced me to organize my day accurately.
Responsibilities
I have been given full responsibility to carry out the different projects independently together with other interns. I could have been given more responsibility or tasks to perform on placement days, when I work with my team.
Support & Guidance
I have received plenty of guidance from my line manager, my placement manager and my buddy. We have time assigned to talk on a weekly basis, and even multiple times during the week. They have helped me answer all my doubts and have put in extra effort to give me opportunities to talk to more senior people or other people outside my cluster.
Culture
The company culture has been extremely welcoming and positive. Everyone has been open to answer queries or make time to talk to me and tell me about their job and experience in the company. I have also had the opportunity to attend many business talks and development sessions to widen my knowledge. There are opportunities to do volunteer work, and inclusion plays a big part in the company´s culture.
Your Impressions
I have mainly worked on the two projects I`m assigned. Both of them have been fulfilling and have helped me learn and develop skills. My team has paid attention to my wellbeing and making sure I integrated in the company. I have had an excellent experience learning about the company and finding more about the culture. I feel the culture is open, welcoming and takes people into account. It has surpassed my expectations.
Yes
To learn about the company and their culture and purpose. It plays a big role in the interview process. To participate in activities and be active, but also to allow space for others to share their views and listen to everyone. If I had to reapply, I would tell myself to be more relaxed for the assessment center. There is no pre-required knowledge, just make sure to be friendly and show your authentic self.
