Overview
On this four day immersive experience, I was given industry insight in the form of sector workshops, case studies, an understanding of Rothschild’s history, and their upstanding values. This significantly aided me in developing a comprehensive yet specific idea of how the firm operates and perpetuates a competitive edge. The most valuable take away was client exposure; I feel confident discussing the clients Rothschild serves and what makes their service unique and trusted.
Skills
I worked on my time management skills as the experience was demanding and detailed. Furthermore, my commercial awareness was developed as a direct result of analysing a real client case study. The discussions and networking opportunities with senior and junior members of the firm provided a unique landscape into industries such as debt advisory, global advisory, and the competitive process of investors. The collaborative group project reiterated the value of listening to your team.
Business Insight
The opportunity has undoubtedly demystified the financial advisory industry for me. I began to understand how diversity, teamwork, and making strong connections are crucial aspects of any city role. I have left the experience with an assertion that there are various roles in Global Advisory and Wealth Management. Importantly though, I recognise the importance of understanding what a client wants, and the industry they work in, and how to apply business insight to the task.
Culture
The culture at Rothschild is the people at Rothschild. Whether you were speaking to intern recruitment or a senior financial advisor, you felt equal to them and respected by them. I could gage how collaboration, kindness, and support systems were key pillars behind all operations. I can understand why people work there for so long.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the experience. It wasn’t the same kind of work over and over again. There was a perfect balance between breadth and depth of the knowledge they provided us with. It was exactly what an firm and industry insight should be. Pivotally, it was interactive and this made the experience effortless and informative.
Yes
Really get to know the people and the firm. It is what makes Rothschild stand out. Also, familiarise with industry jargon and financial concepts. A large role of a trainee here was said to be involving excel, analysing data, and completing a range of tasks on time so defiantly emphasise those skills.
