Overview
Learned about the different components of global advisory, wealth management. Attended an array of useful skill workshops and worked with other participants of a group project which was presented to industry professionals at the end.
Skills
Yes, the workshops were especially helpful in developing my communication and application skills and informing my knowledge of investment banking further. The group project also greatly helped my communication and presenting skills.
Business Insight
Very insightful as I had not realised how many different roles there were in global advisory and it was interesting hearing from each different speaker about their career progressions at Rothschild & Co.
Culture
As a family run business, the culture was very different to other banks. For example, the structure was very flat so that there was lots of opportunity for newly introduced workers to interact with higher level people in the bank. The atmosphere was encouraging and I felt like there was lots of support for employees to develop and build their skillset.
Your Impressions
The insight was enjoyable throughout, the speakers were entertaining and informative and the group project was exciting, relevant and intriguing. The workshops were also very professionally presented and were enjoyable as the sessions were very interactive and useful for future applications.
Yes
Make sure you understand the business well, the family culture, the managerial structure, and most importantly do good research on what happens at a global advisory firm. The skills desired for this experience included primarily: communication, curiosity, eagerness to learn, initiative.
